D-Day for caged Italian ‘mafia boss’ Marconati
Marconati was convicted of threatening to kill businesswoman and erstwhile partner Li Song and ordered to perform community service but decided to abscond.
Harare- IT is ‘D-Day’ for caged controversial businessman Francesco Marconati as Harare magistrate Simon Kandiero is expected to hand down his ruling on the businessman’s default of community service.
Marconati was convicted of threatening to kill businesswoman and erstwhile partner Li Song and ordered to perform community service but decided to abscond.
This was proven by a letter authored by the director of community services stating that Marconati absconded without submitting plausible reasons.
It is the State’s case that on September 28, 2022, Li Song was outside Harare Magistrates Court, after attending a criminal court case where Marconati was facing fraud allegations, in which Li Song was the complainant.
She was approached by Marconati who threatened her by pointing his finger at her saying “be careful…I will kill you if you do not withdraw the case and you are a piece of s***”.
Alessandro tried to restrain his father in vain.
Prosecutor Chirenje yesterday called for the court to impose the three-month sentence that was set aside since Marconati has failed to comply with the order to perform unpaid .
The seemingly arrogant Marconati a suspected Italian mafia boss is languishing in remand prison.
