Cyclone Bheki might hit Zim next week, says expert report
Bheki was formed in the South West of Indian Ocean early November.
Harare- A meterological expert report has raised a red flag signal to Southern African countries including Zimbabwe of Tropical Bheki which is anticipated to affect the region next week,Express Mail Zim can report.
“When we viewed the Satellite this afternoon (15 November 2024 at 2pm) , it showed that something strange is happening in the Indian Ocean. Tropical Bheki is real and the responsible authorities must be geared to start tracking it on time so as to avoid surprises and loss of dear lives this coming week ,” read part of the expert’s report.
“This season we are saying, it very possible that we likely going to have many Cyclones that are likely going to cause landfalls in most Southern African countries including Mauritius, Réunion, Madagascar, Mozambique, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi and others,” it further reads.
Tropical Storm Bheki was formed in the South West of Indian Ocean on the November 13 2024 with a wind speed of 55km/hr which was a dangerous starting point.
According to the expert report released this week, it is now crusing at a wind speed of 120km/hr and on Monday next week the wind speed is expected to reach 170km/hr.
The Storm direction is heading towards Mauritius and Madagascar.
The Zimbabwe government is urged to be on high alert so as to save lives.
