Biti assault case: High Court pours cold water on his Concourt request

Harare- THE High Court has poured cold water on CCC deputy president Tendai Biti’s application where he sought a review of an earlier ruling barring him from approaching the Concourt in a matter where he is answering to assault charges.

The temperamental lawmaker allegedly of verbally assaulting a businesswoman and investor Tatiana Aleshina in 2020.

Biti prayed for Harare Magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti’ s ruling to be overturned.

High Court judge Justice Rodgers Manyangadze dismissed the current application with no costs.

“It s ordered that the application for review be and is hereby dismissed with no order to costs,” read part of the brief judgement with the full transcript to be released soon.

Biti had also made a futile attempt to have the sitting magistrate recused making claims of bias.

Biti then escalated the matter with a request of a refferal to the Concourt.

Prosecutor Michael Reza submitted that Biti had a deliberate ploy to buy time and feels the time is nigh for the matter to reach finality.
