Beyonce and two others up for stealing gold carbons in Mutoko

Mutoko- THREE men who allegedly stole gold carbons at leading gold mining company MilMath PVT LTD Wednesday appeared before Mutoko magistrate Elijah Sibanda facing theft charges.

The gold milling plant is located at Makosa Business Centre.

The accused James Matanhire of Tateka Village in Mutoko, Beyonce Katiyo of Mutondo Business centre in Mudzi and Omberai Manyika of Teteka Village in Mutoko were remanded in custody and will return to court for continuation of trial.

According to court papers, sometime during the early days of October 2022, the three accused persons hatched a plan to steal from the company and proceeded to MilMath milling plant where they took 70kgs of loaded gold carbons from the leaching tanks.

The complainant,Mathias Madzivanzira suddenly noticed a sharp decrease in the output of gold from the elution processes at his CIP Gold processing plant thus raising suspicion that the loaded carbon was being stolen during the time of fishing them from the leaching tanks to the boilers for the elution process.

It is reported that, having noticed that, the complainant disseminated information to his informers with the view to detect such thefts.
On October 25, at around 8am the complainant received a tip-off to the effect that the accused persons had booked approximately 70 kilograms at Bravolands Elution Plant for processing.
Madzivanzira made a report at ZRP Makosa Police Station prompting an investigation in the matter.

Police reacted swiftly and arrested Matanhire at Bravolands Elution Plant where he was processing the loaded carbons.
Matanhire the implicated his accomplices who were later arrested.
They recovered 38,03 grams of gold and the processed gold carbons.
The value of the stolen property was pegged at US$1 901-50.
Nathan Majuru represented the State.
