Eat, drink and be merry: Imbibers celebrate International Beer Day

Harare-The Drinkers Association of Zimbabwe (DAZ) has joined the world in commemorating the International Beer Day which is a global celebration of beer.

In a statement the DAZ president Ivan Zhakata said International Beer Day is marked on the first Friday of August every year around the world.

“This year the celebrations are taking place today, August 5.

“Beer is one of the most popular drinks among adults, especially during the summer.

Several reports also suggest that beer is the most frequently consumed beverage worldwide after water and tea.

Pubs, breweries, and bars around the world host events to celebrate the day.

People are encouraged to thank and honour the brewers and bartenders on this day and celebrate the qualities of beer,” said Zhakata.

He added that the purpose of the day is to celebrate beer from all around the world by bringing people together.

The day calls for enjoying a beer with close friends and family while celebrating the breweries across the globe.

The day was founded and established by Jesse Avshalomovn in Santa Cruz, California, in 2007.

International Beer Day holds a special place in the hearts of beer enthusiasts from throughout the world.

These are the days that provide people with a chance to unwind, take a breather, and spend time with their loved ones.

Even if drinking alcohol excessively or even just in general is hazardous for your health, you will not object if someone offers you a beer.

However, it is advised that people should not consume alcohol in excess as it hazardous to health.

As we celebrate the International Beer Day, DAZ would like to urge all drinkers to drink responsibly in line with our mantra of creating a responsible drinking generation by 2025.

Let us desist from drinking illicit brews which induce a manic behaviour and let us also refrain from taking drugs and harmful substances.
