ZIMRA Enforces Tax Clearance Requirement for Professional Licensing

Harare:A valid Tax Clearance Certificate (ITF 263) is now a pre-requisite for individual professionals according to public notice 92 of 2024 issued on the 5th of December last year.The tax clearance certificates,to be obtained from Zimra,shall be presented by individual professionals before renewal or registration of their membership with
their respective professional bodies.

According to the notice(92 of 2024) which is in accordance with the amendment to Section 80A of the Income Tax Act (Chapter 23:06), Zimra listed the nine affected bodies as;
1. Architects
2. Engineers and Technicians
3. Land Surveyors
4.Legal Practitioners
5.Auditors and Accountants
6. Health Practitioners
7. Veterinary Surgeons
8. Real Estate Agents
9. Quantity Surveyors.

“All individuals seeking certification, registration, or licensing with their respective professional bodies must present a valid tax clearance certificate at the time of application or renewal,” reads the notice.

“The tax clearance certificate must be valid no earlier than 30 days prior to its submission. Zimra encourages all professionals in these fields to ensure compliance with this new requirement to avoid any disruptions in their practice.”

The tax authority further stated that all new registrants have to register through the Zimra Service Portal (SSP), mytaxselfservice.zimra.co.zw

ZIMRA concluded its statement by urging professionals from the nine bodies to comply with the new requirements to avoid disruptions in their practice. The directive reflects the authority’s broader commitment to fostering a structured and sustainable economic environment under the banner, “My Taxes, My Duties: Building My Zimbabwe!”
