Former minister Chasi goes Hip Hop, ‘For The Culture’
Harare- THE post Covid 19 lockdown season has witnessed radical transitions in many walks of life and including the arts sector. One of the beneficiaries of this relief is the Zim Hip Hop genre.
The reincarnation of the genre has given birth to a monthly event dubbed ‘For the Culture’. Speaking to Express Mail Zim this week, the founder of Masofa Panze Art Consultancy Rapper Prince Butawu better known as Noble Stylz explained the inspiration behind the event.
He said:
“There has always been a risk of celebrating the fruits while neglecting the roots in art. Hip Hop is a huge tree and we have taken it upon ourselves to make sure that every branch is celebrated hence we included all its elements to come up with the For The Culture event.”
Known for his lyrical prowess, Noble Stylz is morphing into a music executive. The first edition of this event was held in May and showcased the 4 elements of Hip Hop. However, the master-stroke is the Masterclass which brings together wise accomplished owls from different spaces to impart knowledge into the arts fraternity.
The second edition is being held on July 30 at Moto Republik and the Masterclass topic is “Financial literacy in Arts”.
BusTop TV’s Sharon Magi Chideu will host a revered panel comprising of former Energy minister Fortune Chasi who is no stranger to the music world having made some dancehall songs with the Sunshine family.
Also occupying the expert corner is Zi-Fm’s radio presenter and producer P.D da Ghost and finance analyst Chiko Chipunza who is a senior partner at GAA associates wraps up the panel.
Break Nation, a dance hub that has conquered in Europe and within the SADC region will bring their dance catalogue to the stage. The day will also have Hip Hop Performances and Cyphers.
