Harare- DIVERSIFIED financial services provider Old Mutual Zimbabwe has extended its footprint and ventured into funeral services business ,Express Mail Zim can report.
The giant financial services provider held a road show in Harare last week to activate the new product and it had overwhelming response.
In a statement, group chief executive Sam Matsekete said the entry into the funeral services was inspired “by a strong quest at Old Mutual to continue to enhance the experience our customers have as they access our services”.
“As a responsible business, we have continued to leverage on our experience and diverse presence in the market to provide service that is efficient, convenient, accessible.
Matsekete said the establishment of the funeral business added to the group’s bouquet of integrated services designed to serve the community at all levels.

Through the funeral business, Old Mutual said it will complement its existing funeral insurance cash benefit plan with an alternative for clients who prefer access services from under one roof.
Old Mutual offers several financial services and own several buildings accross the country. However , it seems their pricing regime is exorbitant leading to some of their complexes becoming white elephants due to low occupancy rate .Such complexes include High Glen shopping centre and Chitungwiza Town Centre.
Both complexes have become a pale shadow of their former selves through what tenants have described as ” scary rentals”. Express Mail Zim understands that Old Mutual tried to ‘swallow’ existing funeral services providers but were spurned.
