Mnangagwa hails diaspora community for luring investors
'Zimbabwe is open for business' mantra unlocks foreign direct investments and brings in much-needed capital to boost the economy.
Harare – PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has praised the diasporan community for luring investors into the country under the ‘Zimbabwe is open for business’ mantra.
The policy unlocks capital inflow and brings in much-needed capital to boost the economy.
He made the sentiments during his keynote address at the closing ceremony of the nine-day long Zim Afro T10 second edition tournament at Harare Sports Club last night, Express Mail Zim can report.
“I extend my gratitude to our diaspora community who have worked tirelessly to convince investors to come to Zimbabwe and invest in cricket.
” Together, we will leave no one and no place behind, in the realm of sports.
“Going forward, I urge the Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Zimbabwe Cricket as well as other stakeholders to cascade concrete pros down to the grassroots at village level,” said Mnangagwa.
The President was part of the bumper crowd that watched the final where he was flanked by UAE billionaire Shaji Ul Mulk (founder and chairman of T Ten Global Sports), Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe and award winning diasporan investor Dr Paul Tungwarara as they followed the game blow by blow.
In April 2022, the Second Republic under President Mnangagwa, approved the set up of USD1 billion worth of projects by Mulk Holdings.
Mulk was initially brought into the country by Dr Tungwarara and is the brains behind the tournament using the banner of T Ten Global Sports.
Mnangagwa ackowledged the incredible global reach of the T10 tournament which is broadcast live to 100 countries and watched by more than 400 million viewers.
This showcases Zimbabwe to the world, he said.
