Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono set to launch own wine range

could top SA based sommelier and Kumusha wine owner Tinashe Nyamudoka be his inspiration?

Harare- VETERAN investigative journalist Hopewell Chin’ono who is popularly known by his moniker Daddy Hope , will be introducing his own wine range which will debut in New Zealand,Australia and South Africa,Express Mail Zim has learnt.

The wine range will be called Daddy Hope Sauvignon Blanc and will hit the shelves in a yet to be announced date.

Making the announcememt on X Tuesday, Daddy Hope described the range of wine and said:

” Sauvignon Blanc is a white wine grape variety known for its crisp acidity and vibrant flavors.

“It often features citrus. green apple and herbal notes.

“The wine is popular for its refreshing and lively characteristics .”

It appears Chin’ono was inspired by a Zimbabwean sommelier Tinashe Nyamudoka who started his own brand called Kumusha in South Africa.

A sommelier is a trained and knowledgable wine proffesional.

Chin’ono is on record praising local wine brands like Kumusha.

He once posted on X:

“Zimbabwe wasn’t known for the best wine, but it produced decent wine.

“We now have Zimbabwean international wine makers, but nothing works home when the politics is bad hey!”

However, Zimbabwe also boasts of wine merchants in the person of renowned businessman Albert Nhau of Danai Wines currently running a thriving wine shop in Chisipite.

He also admitted that he is a willing learner after testing some wine in South Africa last year.

“I am learning new things everyday.

“This lady owns a wine house, she gave me a tonne of wine knowledge,” he posted on X making reference to a picture of him posing with the woman in question.

Chin’ono is known for his penchant for fine wine and whiskey.

At one time, he filmed his song blasting corruption with a background of his home mini bar which was laden with expensive whiskey.

The outspoken journalist is also a versatile entreprenuer with intrests in animal husbandry where he rears boer goats in Murewa.
