Blue Horizon bus in fatal crash..as buses’ recklessness, negligence claim innocent livess

Marondera- ROAD carnage has increased in the festive seasonas a Blue Horizon bus has Wednesday claimed five lives with several others injured as recklessness and negligence by bus operators continue to claim innocent souls.

Pictures are awash on social media of the bus accident along Harare-Mutare highway near Marondera area with most people mistakening the bus to belong to Inter Africa which has similar orange and red colours due to the corporate brand colours that look alike.

In less than a week, several buses from various companies including CAG were involved in accidents mainly due to human error mostly blamed on the bus drivers.

This worrisome trends comes despite some “spirited” efforts by the bus operators to curb traffic accidents.

However, this publication has previously reported on how Inter Africa took its drivers to refresher courses.

Ahead of the festive season some transporters took it upon themselves to conscientise passengers on their rights including that of reporting bad driving behaviour to eliminate road carnage.

Most road carnages are prevalent during this time hence transporters on their part have also lined a host of activities including servicing their buses, installing speed-limiting devices, and doing refresher courses for their drivers among others – with Inter Africa spearheading the initiative.

Among the transporters who took the lead is one of the leading bus transporters, Stallion Cruise, whose management spent the better part interacting with passengers and educating them about their rights.

Inter Africa has a fleet of roadworthy buses and its operations has managed to ease transport woes as espoused in the Second Republic resolutions.
