collapsed during show and succumbed to injuries

Port Elizabeth- POPULAR gospel musician Eric Moyo has died.

He was 41.

Reports coming from South Africa say the former Idols winner and Joyous Celebration Choir member succumbed to a brain bleed after collapsing on stage during a performance in Port Elizabeth and died Tuesday.

Express Mail Zim Lifestyle understands that Moyo had his first studio recording at Moonlight Studios in Bulawayo (2000) when a friend and award winning musician Leslie Kampila took him there.

He recorded a song titled “I will never go back”.

His major recording contract was after his Idols series victory.

He later joined the famed South African gospel group, Joyous Celebration.

In an interview with Express Mail Zim Lifestyle, one of the late Moyo close friend and former group member Leslie Kampila said he was devastated.

“My brother I’m so shocked and devastated , when he recorded his first song I took him to Moonlight studios in 2000 and it was his first time in a recording studio.

“He recorded a song called ‘I will never go back ‘ and we even formed a group and we would exchange notes during the landlines era.

“When I heard the news I was shocked,” said Kampila who is an award winning artiste in his own right.
