Harare- TSAPO Group of Companies has received a distributorship license for India’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturing giant Ashok Leyland to become the country’s sole distributor.
This is a timely boost for the group that has been dominating local markets in both farming, mining, public service, commercial and construction vehicles trading major brands that includes Lovol, Green Energy (BYD), FAW, Sinotruck, and Golden Dragon while their panel beating company Grand Auto Body Shop remains unmatched.
Speaking at the handover ceremony held at the company’s office chief executive Paatrick Masocha was elated with the partnership and said it is a testament and shared vision.
“This strategic partnership could not have been more timely and is a significant milestone for both companies and countries”, said Masocha.
“It is a symbol of the strong ties between our two nations now cascading down to benefit various sectors.
“The partnership is a testament of a shared vision of growth and innovation”.
Masocha said both companies will immensely benefit from the partnership.
“It goes without saying that Ashok Leyland is a leading commercial vehicle manufacturer in India, with a strong presence on the global market”, he said.
“In turn, Tsapo Group is positioned to be a Zimbabwean conglomerate. It’s diverse business interests, including automotive, mining, and agriculture all of which have one thing in common; the need for automotive power to enhance productivity and development.
“This partnership will continue to create job opportunities for the people of Zimbabwe. It has allowed us to play our part towards attainment of vision 2030 which seeks to create upper middle-class economy by 2030”.
Ashok Leyland Head of Africa International Operations Sachin Dasharath said “Its been a great journey since we decided to engage with Tsapo Group to explore business opportunities for Ashok Leyland.
“We are here today because Tsapo Group has created high quality infrastructure for selling Ashok Leyland and we really value their association with us,” said Dasharath.
“We are the second largest brand in India with 75 years in existence providing commercial range of vehicles, pick-up and defence range of vehicles”.
Dasharath said Ashok Leyland has a proven record of durability and performance in both commercial and defence industry making them favourites in the continent.
“We have been here in Africa for more than two decades,” he said.
Ashok Leyland’s presence will only grow from the borehole drilling rigs that already popular on the market to a wide range of vehicles that comes with a guarantee.
Indian ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Vijay Khanduja said the partnership will bring success to both companies involved.
