Prime Time Academy brings European scouts to tap local talent

Harare- PRIME Time Academy, who were founded by former Southampton striker Dexter Blackstock, will host an International Combine with scouts from at least six countries,Express Mail Zim can report.

Registration has opened for footballers aged between 14 and 21 from across Zimbabwe and the region in Harare on December 11 to December 13 at Alexandra Sports Club.

Scouts will be drawn from Portugal, England, Belgium,Sweden ,He many and Israel.
Blackstock developed an interest in Zimbabwean football talent after attending the inaugural Marvelous Nakamba Foundation Under-17 tournament held in Bulawayo last year.

The inaugural tournament was won by MAJESA Academy with one Padera impressive as a defensive midfielder.

MAJESA managed to sent eight players for the International Combine.

In an interview with Express Mail Zim Sports on Tuesday , one of the coordinators Taurai Janhi appreciated the links and platform set for local footballers to reach the global stage.

“I would like to thank Blackstock for creating these links, it’s good for Zimbabwean football.

Janhi has strong passion for football and is the secretary general for Simba Bhora.

“Prime Time International Academy is bringing scouts from European clubs, colleges and tertiary education institutions to watch the very best of Zimbabwe and Southern African talent.

“This Combine will elevate the status of the nation to that of a hub where the region’s best footballing talent gets a shot at the biggest leagues in Europe,” Blackstock was qouted as saying.

Football academies have groomed talent work over and in Zimbabwe we have the likes of Nigel Munyati,Marc Duvillard and Wieslaw Grabowski who discovered stars like Norman Mapeza,Shingi Kawondera, Knowledge Musona, Khama Billiat and the late George Chigova among others.

Meanwhile,Chigova succumbed to a heart ailment at the age of 32 in South Africa.
He is survived with two children and earlier and false prophet had assured him that his health was stable in a video that went viral on social media.
