Chibuku Road to Fame: Feli Nandi survives the ‘guillotine’

Harare- ORGANISERS of Chibuku Road to fame put songstress Feli Nandi on the ‘guillotine’ at Takashinga Cricket club Saturday , but she refused to die!

She walked on stage at around 18.15 carrying the gait of a confident superstar and her first song was ‘Ngatidanane’ which was well delivered vocally , coupled with excellent stage communication.

Her apparel was befitting summer wear and her thunder thighs kept male revellers drooling.

I digress.

Slotting Feli Nandi between Alick Macheso and Tocky Vibes is tantamount to ‘killing’ her but she refused to die and instead managed to take over Baba Shero’s Godzilla shoes .

Nandi took time to pay tribute to the late Garry Mapanzure and dropped a song called “Hatina nguva yatinofunga kuti tinayo”

” Let me sing in memory of my brother and fellow musician Garry Mapanzure,” she said in a touching voice .

She put the bumper crowd in an ecstatic frenzy when she performed renditions of the late Soul Jah Love’s tunes.

The song “Ndine magetsi” literally sealed her electrifying performance as revellers and imbimbers alike displayed their nimble feet on the dancefloor.

After her set, Nandi passed the baton to Toky Vibes- he never disappoints!

His stage performance has improved over the years and getting better with age like wine.

He put up a well choreographed act taking old hits from his decorated discography.

His deportment was also on point and it appears hanging around with smart people is infectious.

Ever since he started hanging around with the likes of Phatisani Sibanda, he has improved on dressing and his skin is now glowing .

He is nolonger that boy from the dusty streets of Rugare!

Meanwhile, Midlands-based Afro-Fusion band, 911 Band was crowned winners.

The band walloped the other nine competitors from the other nine provinces, to walk away with US$15 000, while High Five Band from Mashonaland Central province came second and weregiven US$10 000.

Third place went to Kweseka Band from Matabeleland North province, who pocketed US$7 500.

Kudos to the organisers for a well organized event.
