Rapper Noble Stylz tears into govt, delivers ‘S.O.N.A’

Harare- AWARD winning hip-hop artiste Prince Butawo better known by his moniker Noble Stylz has released a metaphor-laden freestyle that debuted on You Tube Monday, Express Mail Zim can report.

In the latest release, the youthful rapper dug into his social commentary box and pulled another rabbit in sync with his signature lyrical prowess which has a pregnant ‘book of rhymes’ reminscient of American rapper Nasir Jones (Nas) ‘s style of delivery.

His latest release is titled’Zviripasi Mukuru’ and he used his poetic licence and assumed his new role that he dubbed as “His Ex-silence Resident Noble Stylz” and delivers a State Of The Nation Address (S.O.N.A) from a peasants point of view.

In an interview with Express Mail Zim Monday, Noble Stylz insinuated that his art is inspired by his surroundings and although he did not categorically state his inspiration but after listening to the freestyle, this reporter deduced that he was inspired by the socio -economic hardships afflicting many ordinary Zimbabweans and his artistic lense took a hawk eye .

“My role in society is simple, I am sponge I suck in everything into me and find a creative way to bring it out.

“This freestyle is a blanket statement on a lot of issues people are going through and might not find the right words or ways to put it across,” he said.

Noble Stylz has been known to be a bar for bar champion and for his affirmation action towards hip hop which recently earned him the Zim Hip Hop Best Promoter Award.

During the COVID-19 induced national lockdown period he had a fierce clash with Southerton bred rapper and former music Trinity member GZE which illuminated social media and kept music afficianados glued to their gadgets.

Noble says his S.O.N.A is a reflection of the nation ‘s hopes in an inauspicious environment.

” It is the proverbial ever- eluding silver lining.”It highlights being stuck between a rock and a hard place metaphor in real life.

“Art is a mirror to society, so I witness things ,have lived phases and read about stuff too.

“So the motivation was to breakdown the cycle we are in a nation in way people could understand,” he said.

Noble also hogged the limelight during the First Republic where he made a comic skit questioning how the US$15 billion proceeds from Chiadzwa diamond mining operations ‘dissaperared’ .
