Late liberation war hero Farawo laid to rest

Mutare- THE late liberation war hero David Farawo whose nom de guerre was Demo Tichatonga has been laid to rest at Mutare Provincial Heroes Acre Saturday.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa accorded Farawo the hero status last week .

He passed on last Wednesday.

Eulogies were made and described his decorated liberation war credentials with Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution Nokuthula Matsikenyere describing him as a loyal cadre.

“His loyalty and unquestionable dedication to the liberation struggle is evident that His Excellency ,the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe Cde Dr ED Mnangagwa,the Government,and party found it befitting him liberation war hero status,” said Matsikenyere.

One of his sons Tinashe ,who is also the Zimparks communications boss, showered praises on Mnangagwa for recognising his late father’s contribution.

“We are happy that the State has recognised the efforts that my father put in freeing the country.

“It was not easy raising a family of 16 children .This is the golden generation which fought for our independence and we are happy, he said.

He added that his late father had a strong passion for Zanu PF and was an educationist par excellence, an attribute that was infectious to him and his siblings.

Farawo is survived by 16 children and several grandchildren.
