Traffic safety council of Zimbabwe ‘celebrates’ death of Major General Chanakira

By Nigel Pfunde

In an advertorial boob, the Traffic Council of Zimbabwe controversially ‘celebrated’the death of the Major General Godfrey Chanakira in their condolence message published in a local newspaper.

Chanakira who was declared a national hero was laid to rest last week at the national monuments.

In their message the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe prounded that : “Congratulations, makorokoto, Amhlope”

To add on to their boob, the council mispelt the Ndebele word, Amhlophe, which means congratulations.

When His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa paid his condolences to the Chanakira family, the funeral wake was initially declared as a State assisted funeral but surprisingly the circumstances vaccilated after the Vice President Constantino Chiwenga paid his condolences and he was declared a national hero.

This comes amid reports that there is an ‘unwriiten agreement’ that any cadre in the deceased’s military rank is automatically declared a national hero.

The development gives credence to speculative reports of massive fissures within the presidium.

The TSCZ authorities were not reachable at the time of writing Thursday.

However, insiders say the boob emanated from the public relations department where a personell allegedly used a template and neglected to conduct due diligence.
