Zanu Pf activist Chidawa loses fight against dumping of delimitation report

Hrare- YOUTHFUL Zanu PF activist and former university student union leader Toderai Chidawa’s spirited effort to have the current delimitation report nullified hit a snag as the Concourt dismissed his application,Express Mail Zim can report.

Chidawa’s chief argument was that there were major constitutional violations in the crafting process of the document which saw only the Zimbabwe Electoral Commison (Zec) chairperson Priscilla Chigunba and her deputy Rodney Simukai signing before presenting to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, against the consent of seven other commissioners.

The constituency boundaries report saw the creation of massive infighting within the ruling party.

In his application, Chidawa prayed that Parliament investigate ZEC and he further sought the nullification of proccedings that took place in Parly from the time the poll based document was tabled in the House January 6 this year .

Chief Justice Luke Malaba however submitted that the law does not place an obligation on Parliament to investigate the object of Zec divisions.

“There is no cause of action pleaded against the respondent.
“It is ordered that the application be and is hereby dismissed with no order as to costs” ruked Malaba who chaired a full Concourt bench.

Chidawa was represented by top lawyer Lovemore Madhuku.

Meanwhile, current delimitation report has seen constituency boundaries that even confuse the electorate, for instance the newly adopted Glen View North constituency stretches from Highfield to Glen- View and it has seen two youthful candidates gunning for the seat .
This is in the form of the current shadow MP and businessman Martin Mambo locking horns with property developer Tumelo Witness Zamanga.

Similar scenario is in Mt Pleasant where charismatic businessman and football adminstrator Beadale Musa Gwasira is eyeing.
