Saboteurs: No joy for the directors who erected dubious billboards

Harare- THE two saboteurs who intended to tarnish the image of Pokugara Properties by illegally erecting billboards containing malicious messages found no joy when a Harare magistrate remanded the duo to February 28 pending outcome of their Supreme Court appeal.

The two men are Grant Russel and Mark Strathen who are directors of Fairclott Investiments and Paragon Printing respectively.

The duo is answering to a criminal nuisance charge.

The disgraced directors initially filed for exception to the charges at the lower court saying the charges were defective, but Harare magistrate Shane Kubonera threw their application in the bin arguing that they raised triable issues.

The duo did not accept the verdict and soldiered on to approach the High Court, which again ordered the trial to proceed.

The seemingly ‘never say die’ duo then sought recourse at the Supreme Court, and the matter is still pending.

It is the State’s case that on December 10, 2021, the accused erected a billboard opposite Celebration Centre, Borrowdale, with damaging information on West Properties in a bid to tarnish the latter’s image.

The State alleges that the bilboard’s content was likely to interfere with ordinary comfort or convenience of the complainant’s clients.

Pokugara Properties made police report, leading to their arrest.
