Acie Lumumba employee stages US$49k robbery to evade her boss’ debt

Harare- THE chief sales officer of Acie Lumumba’s petroleum company Platinum Fuels allegedly staged a robbery to evade her principal’s US$49 000 debt owed to a popular fuel supplier known as Shepherd Mabwe .

It is an open secret that the woman Brenda Zvarayi (29),is a blue eyed girl of Lumumba who is reportedly swimming in debt. He has allegedly sponsored her holiday to Maldives.” He bought her a car and sponsored her holiday to Maldives but she is not in good books with Acie’s second wife Adriana Chabata, revealed our source.

Besides Mabwe, Lumumba reportedly also owes US$70 000 to a local businessman and pastor (name withheld). This forced the businessman to resort to attaching property at the charismatic Lumumba’s Kambanji house .This follows another default of payment to fuel amounting to 1 million litres supplied by a company called Batterygate Dubai represented by one Gerry.,Express Mail can reveal.

Investigations by Express Mail Zim established that Mabwe supplied fuel to Lumumba’s company and Zvarayi is the ‘runner’ who is doing payments since Lumumba is unwell at the moment with a cancer scare.

Zvarayi then called Mabwe and told him that payment was ready and due for collection at the Enterprise offices. That is when the alleged staged robbery plan was hatched.

This publication spoke to Mabwe who confirmed the incident but refused to shed more light citing that it was under police investigation. Zvarayi recently appeared before Harare magistrate Stanford Mambanje and was remanded in custody but later released on bail Wednesday last week. According to court records, the State alleges that on July 6 this year, Zvarayi together with her accomplices who are still at large hatched a plan to steal from Mabwe.

It is alleged that Zvarayi used her own car to drive the complainant to her workplace along Enterprise road in Harare.

Zvarayi allegedly pretended as if she wanted to make a payment of the bill on Lumumba’s behalf.

It is alleged that upon arrival at the company’s gate, Zvarayi slowed down her vehicle and her accomplices got into the car.

The complainant was allegedly dragged out of the vehicle leaving his bag in the car and the gang drove off at high speed.

The complainant reported the matter to the police.

According to court papers, Zvarayi failed to explain why she sped off after the complainant was dragged out of the car. Lumumba was unreachable at the time of writing and a fortnight ago he closed operations at one of companies Batterygate citing financial concerns.
